State of TRACOM – October 2019
Good Morning Marines,
I wish everyone a safe and fun Halloween. This has been a busy month for TRACOM. Directors are working on manual updates and we are continuing to work on moving to Moodle. We are taking the time to not only provide the best material to use on the new system, but also Directors are proficient on the new system. I would like to take a few minutes to discuss a few key topics for our audience at large.
Course requirement. PD 100 is a requirement for taking any additional courses for SFMCA. This is because PD 100 is our basic course as a Starfleet marine. Just as soldiers go through basic training in the real-world military, all are expected to complete our basic marine course.
This will help orientate you in the skills and general knowledge of being a marine. Both the Commandant and us here at TRACOM are working on some revisions to our basic manual. We hope to have it out soon.
I will be closing the ADC Position posting this Friday, November 1. If anyone is still interested in applying for the ADC Position, please contact HR@sfi.org. ADC Director will be responsible for Maintaining ADC records and processing certs for SFMCA Graduates. I look
forward to seeing applicants’ submissions.
New Course Director. The New Course Director will be responsible for reviewing and processing new course courses. This position will be a focal point for us to review course ides, new course submissions by both Marines & directors. I will submit this posting through SFI HR this week. The NCD director will be a key element in on our continued move to Moodle.
Course grading and Completions. I have sent guidance to take and ensure that our marines get their grades completed in a timely manner. I apologize for the delay. We are looking at creating some internal assistant instructors to help cover the load. We are trying to make this a reality. I know that this at times is a bit longer then should be. We are working on developing some internal processes to take and get this resolved.
If there are any questions, concerns, or comments regarding SFMCA & TRACOM.
Please contact myself or anyone on the staff.
Sincerely,
Shane Russell
