State of the SFMC January 2017
Good evening, Marines.
With the start of the new year and the new Command cycle, I want to thank FADM Robert Westfall for his faith in my abilities and his decision to place me in command of the Starfleet Marine Corps. I am looking forward to service both the Corps and Fleet in this upcoming solar cycle.
My job, as before, is still to provide support to the individuals of the STARFLEET Marine Corps so they may enjoy this ‘world’ we gather in to it’s fullest. My office door is always open. Baring acts of natural disaster I will respond to all emails sent to me within 48-72 hours. I may not have an answer to your questions; I may need to forward it on to the specific command but I will let you know I got it. If you don’t receive a return email from me within that time, please try again. I’m out here in the Wildes of SW Idaho and sometimes the string breaks, the tin can rusts and my Intrawebz falls apart. If it’s time sensitive, please contact either the DepDant or COFORCECOM. We’ll take care of you. I promise.
** For those who may have missed the previous announcement, once again here is the upcoming General Staff of the USMC. This information is also available on the USMC website under ‘Commands’. [Link Removed – Old Post]
Commandant – BGN Jari James
Deputy Commandant – GEN Mike McGowan
CO Finances Command – MGN Barry Jackson
CO Forces Command – COL Brian Allen
CO Information Command – MGN Mark Anderson
CO Training Command – BGN Shane Russell
Sargent Major/SFMC – MGSGT Jerry Stoddard
Email addresses for all of the above can be found on the SFMC website. Please allow each Command a minimum of 48-72 hours to reply to your emails. We all have ‘additional duties as assigned’ [Real Life] that sometimes gets in the way of things.
** Commandant’s Campaign Award: This is the reporting cycle for units to report activities for the Commandant’s Campaign Challenge. Don’t know what that is? To quote the ‘Marine Force Manual’: This ribbon is given for completing or participating (certain criteria may have to be met to qualify) in a Commandant’s Campaign. Still not much? This award is issued by the Commandant for those who volunteer in support of specific designated charities and programs.
The current ongoing activities that will be accepted for the Commandant’s Campaign Award starting on 1 Jan 2017 running through 31 Dec 2017 are:
USMC-R Toys for Tots
Special Olympics
March for the Disabled
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
There will be a new addition to the list of charities eligible for the Commandant’s Campaign Award [CCA] for the 2017 cycle. That is the SPCA [Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals – aka: Humane Society]. It is a charity with international organizations under it’s umbrella and will give our ‘out of the US members’ another volunteer outlet as well as Gunny’s ‘March for the Disabled’. And I’ve always had a soft spot for those who can’t speak for themselves. [Link Removed – Old Post]
As with any of the charities the CCA supports, a minimum of 4 documented volunteer hours are required to qualify. Simple purchases and donations are not accepted. There will be more information on this later.
If someone wants to use another project, there is no guarantee that it will count – that will be on a case by case basis as decided by myself. Do ‘NOT’ wait until the end of this year to find out if it will be accepted.
Please have this information to your BDE OIC in the Feb 2017 report. This way COL Allen can make sure I get a report all the needed information from every brigade and nothing gets missed.
** With Brigade Musters and Award cycles coming up over the next few month make sure your Unit OICs know what you’ve accomplished so it can be reported up the chain. It is always rewarding to see good deeds recognized. We can’t thank you if we don’t know what you’ve done.
Keep it safe out there and be nice to each other.
Stand Easy, Marines.
With Regards,
BGN Jari “Gato” James
Commandant/SFMC
