State of TRACOM January 2021
Happy new year everyone. We have been working on many things this month.
Requesting courses can be done in one of two ways. You can access Moodle and go to the Starfleet Marine corps academy. Then request a course in one of the colleges listed. We have some new material that is going to be done soon. This is the best and easiest way to access SFMC Academy material. The other way is to contact the director through the email address listed in the Catalog. These will get you to the respective directors.
Academy changes- We have started to incorporate some changes in our reporting structure. We have begun to implement some changes in the monthly status reports that the directors will be submitting. These MSR’s will help us to get better reporting to the senior leadership in Education services and internally to process grading and ensuring that ADC gets your certificates. I have tasked both ADC staff to ensure that you will get certificates in a timelier manor.
ADC Department: I have tasked the ADC Department (Awards, Devices,
Certifications) Department to ensure that the backlog of certificates be published and sent out to the marines. Additionally, I have tasked them both to ensure that they are sending certificates in a timely manner. Some may be sent out monthly. Both have access to our internal course completion grades. They can be reached by e-Mail: adc@sfmca.sfi-sfmc.org <https://sfmca.sfi.org/training-and-doctrine-command/adc@sfmca.sfi-sfmc.org>
.
Reorganizing and restructuring. Both the SFMCA Superintendent and I have been looking at the colleges we have open and the various colleges that are not getting many courses. We are looking at revamping and closing some.
These you may see closed or under review in the next few weeks. This is not to discourage anyone. However, we would like to look at making us better.
As we get new improvements and staffing opportunities. We will be posting various positions on the HR website. We look for any applicants that want to come on board.
Materials and Exams revisions. This has been a long process and some changes for various aspects. We are working on editing and revising. For example, the Officer Development branch is revising the manual and materials now. They are working on building a new manual from scratch.
Additionally, MECHA is under review. We have submitted it for a review with a seasoned MECHA expert. Internally, we are working with the Chief of Education (CES) services on updating our course policies. Additionally, to discuss for approval with both GS and CES. If you have a course or subject, you think that would benefit SFMCA. Please reach out.
Hails – I would like to welcome Cher Schleigh to the TRACOM Cadre. She will oversee our beta teams. She will also be assisting in proofing and ensuring that our materials are compliant. I look forward to her continued work.
