State of FORCECOM June 2013

At Ease, Marines,

My apologies for the lateness on this. This Command [as well as the entire General Staff ] has been keeping very busy with business specific to the upcoming Marine Muster as well as it’s usual day to day duties.
This SOR will be short and sweet due to computer issues caused by unseasonable temperatures here at Caldwell Station. You know it’s too hot outside when you find you staff refusing to stop at the end of their work shift. Of course, 1LT Calamari ‘is’ an Aquaculture Specialist so with it breaking 100F here I’d probably want to stay down in the canals myself. And there’s no way to simply pull him out. Counting his tentacles, he out ‘arms’ me five to one. Once he hunkers down, waiting him out is the only viable option.
First off :
Applications for the position of 3BDE OIC will close 2355 MDT on 30 June. This is tomorrow. If you are in 3BDE and are interested in applying, please contact me ASAP for the needed information.
Applications for the position of Deputy Commanding Officer – FORCECOM will close 2355 MDT on 30 June. Again this is tomorrow. If you are interested in applying, please contact me ASAP for the needed information.
On the two above, the applications with compiled, reviewed and announcements will be made over the next couple of weeks.
Submissions for Honor award nominations has already closed and the winners will be announced at IC.
Personal Records:
Again, please review your own records. Don’t expect your OICs to catch everything. If you don’t find an award you’ve earned on your records, let people know up your Chain of Command so that can be corrected as soon as possible. Also, be sure to check you Marine Affiliation and unit assignment to make sure you are in the right place.
On the subject of awards and such. Please let your Chain of Command know what you’re doing. Make sure your activities make it into your unit reports. If we don’t know what you’re doing it’s almost impossible to see that you receive the recognition you deserve.
To close I want to leave you with some fast statistics. As I write this the SFMC Strength as listed on the database currently stands at 14 active Brigades holding 165 units with First Brigade leading the way with 27 units. T
here are 1426 individuals [879 Active and 576 Reserve] spread out through the Brigades or on unassigned status.
The top three units in regards to manning are the following:
888th MSG, 17BDE – Tiger Sharks at 40 Marines
225th MSG 12 BDE – Dedex at 25 Marines
49MSG 4BDE – Fallen Angles of Mercy at 25 Marines
Sadly I will not be attending the Marine Muster this year, but consider this a direct command from the CO Forces Command.
