State of INFOCOM/DepDANT – October 2019
Greetings Marines,
I got the reports about the report delivery problems during the last reporting. These were the same issues we had before the site was moved to the new domain. I request the Gmail smtp plugin be installed by Compops which they did. The bad news Google now requires the API (Application) I setup to relay the emails through Gmail must be approved. I submitted the request for approval and the response I received was they now require the site to be a secure site, https: instead of http. In order to make the site work as a https site you need an SSL certificate (Secure Sockets Layer) which are expensive. At this point that isn’t going to happen anything soon. I’m testing a different solution; it is a free service that has its own API and relays email through their servers. So far it is working on a test site. I’ve requested to have that plugin installed and it was. The issue I’m having is when I activate it, I don’t get the settings page to configure the relay. I have requested assistance from Compops so I hope we can get this fixed so I can test the report delivery. Once it is ready, I would like to get some additional Brigade OIC to test the reporting before the next reporting cycle to make sure they are working better.
I’m also still working on the new Quarter Master site but I’ve spent most of my time working on the email delivers issue. Once that is fixed, I hope I can get back to the QM site.
That is about all I have for now. As always, if you have any questions, please let me know. I’ll get back to
you as soon as I can.
