State of FORCECOM March 2021
To borrow a phrase from another from another franchise “I’m not even supposed to be here today!” I was brought on to assist ForceCom, not BE ForceCom.
A quick background for those of you who don’t know me. Joined STARFLEET back in 1989 (or at least, that is the date on his OTS Certificate), and started in the Science Section of the USS INTREPID II, NCC-1730 (Region 7) in Garfield, New Jersey. Fast forward some years and while Commanding Officer of the JUSTICE, became friends with then SFMC Commandant Loujaue McPherson, who showed him the glory that Is SFMC. Blah blah blah, several Starfleet Crosses and Legions of Valor/Honors later moved to Third Brigade’s Area of Operation and did several successful tours as its BDE OIC. Badda bing badda boom, here I am at SFMC HQ talking to you now.
Now I may just be “acting” COForceCom, I am not napping the corner office or trying to find where Tom hid the good stuff. Here is what is in and coming down the pipeline:
HONOR AWARDS – The deadline for Honor Awards is 01MAY2021 and this should be coming from the Brigade Valor winners, no skipping the line.
LARGE VOLUME AWARDS – Award season is in the air. If you have multiple awards, I highly recommend a spreadsheet or word document. Please list not only the date to be issued but also all the rank, name and SCC number (unit/chapter is bonus). Submissions without this information will be returned. Reminder, awards like the Legion of Valor or MUC must list all marines of the unit.
GOOD CONDUCT AWARD – a couple people were looking to get the records updated so we are going to tackle this head on. The BDE OICs have been issued action orders on how to get the information. This is just another reason why marines should be reviewing their records. Some people have been in 20+ years and never got one. So work with your BDE OIC if you are missing any. I do not want to see five thousand emails looking for updates. Remember this award is for 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 20 years of uninterrupted time in the SFMC. This “amnesty” program will be over by JUN2021.
BDE OIC MEETING – I am working with the Commandant to look into the possibility of a conference call with all the Brigade OICs to make sure we are all operating under the same guidelines and to share best practices. No period has been chosen but personally, I hope it is before Virtual IC 2021.
VIRTUAL MUSTER – All I can say is yes, it is in the planning stages so be on the lookout for more information. The General Staff will update you all as we have concrete information to share. If you have, any special awards and or announcements you’d like to see spotlighted, bubble it up the chain
SFMC VIDEO – I hope you all saw the Commandant’s video message on YouTube.
I’ll be working with the Commandant to get more videos out as it seems to be a positive venue for conveying information. If there is anything special you’d like to see, forward it up the chain.
Respectfully,
E.C. Tunis III
Lieutenant General, SFMC
