State of FORCECOM October 2014
State of FORCECOM October 2014
Good day, Marines.
I realize that this ‘Status of’ report for FORCECOM is late for October. I was holding out in the hopes I could report that full function has been restored to this Command. Sadly, this is not yet the case. It is ‘not’ because SFI CompOps isn’t working their hearts out on this. There’s a lot of code to look through and changes to chart and create. It’s far better they take their time and make sure all their work meshes smoothly then to rush and have to make more changes later on.
What this means for my Command is I can make ‘no’ additions, deletions or changes to information on the database. This translates into no unit changes or creation of new units, awards, changes in Marine assignments or affiliations. I have limited ‘look up’ for individual members. I check my database access twice a day to see what changes have happened.
Please continue to contact myself and my Deputy, BDR Duncan Cameron, about FORCECOM matters. Just because we can’t get to it right now, we’ll keep working on it.
I’ve also contacted all Brigade Officers in Charge about back up plans for reporting and such should those become necessary. Right now we are using the reporting forms on the SFMC website. If that should change, an announcement will be made.
Hang in there, Marines. We’ll get ‘er’ done.
Stand easy, Marines.
